Australian-born country artist Katrina Burgoyne has released her latest single “The American Dream,” a bold, bootscootin’ anthem packed with sass, heart, and a wink of satire. The track celebrates freedom, love, and chasing something bigger — with the kind of hook that begs for a dance floor.
Eight years ago, Katrina packed her life into a suitcase and took a one-way flight from Gunnedah, New South Wales to Nashville, Tennessee. She left behind a successful career in Australian country music — including a top 10 country album, 4 CMAA Golden Guitar nominations, and songwriting cuts by Australia’s and UK’s biggest country artists and USA Country Music Legend Lorrie Morgan— to chase the genre she loved at the source.
“I moved from Australia to Nashville chasing a dream I’d only seen in country songs,” she says. “Now I’ve got a baby on my hip, six acres to mow, and a modular home parked in the middle of Dixie Alley. If that’s not American, I don’t know what is.”
Katrina became a mother in 2024 to daughter Poppy with her producer husband Steve Kinney, and says that motherhood lit a fire in her to create music that makes people feel good — music that can cut through the noise and remind you who you are.
“The American Dream” leans into a sound Katrina calls “Quirky Country” — playful, empowering, and packed with personality.
“My music is what I imagine the hidden tracks from The Woman in Me might sound like — unapologetically feminine, full of hooks, and made to be turned up loud.”
With nearly two decades of live performance under her belt and a catalog of heartfelt, stadium-ready originals, Katrina is stepping into a new era of artistry — one where her stories, her sound, and her identity finally align.
With new releases scheduled every six weeks throughout 2025, The American Dream is just the opening line of a much bigger story.
